Canary Wharf (left of center of the image, within the ox-bow of the Thames River) is one of the greatest ever feats of civic engineering, turning a once derelict Docklands into 97 acres of London’s, and the world’s, most sought after office and retail space.

Canary Wharf is located on the strangely named Isle of Dogs. The Isle of Dogs was first mentioned in Henry III’s papers and it is thought that Edward III kept greyhounds here.

Just to the right of Canary Wharf is the O2, an entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in south-east London (this is the white, circular building).
