Montrose beach is about 10kn north of downtown Chicago located in Uptown. It also houses the most parking of any beach in Chicago so, at weekends, the folks of Chicago can be seen launching non-motorized watercraft, such as kayaks and catamarans, into Lake Michigan.

It also has one of only two dog beaches in the Chicago Park District, making it a popular beach for dog lovers. In the fenced-off section at the north end of the beach, leashless dogs are permitted on the sand (possibly not the best place to take your children to play in the sand!).
